About Jessi

Hi! Welcome to my little corner of the world.

For twelve years I was professional theatrical costumer, which is a vague way to say I’ve done a little bit of everything involved in making costumes for plays, musicals and operas. I’ve worked for six (or so) Tony Award-winning theaters and a whole host of other amazing regional theatres. I recently “retired” from theatre, but I hope to continue using the skills I developed over the last twelve years in my personal and professional life.

From August 2017-August 2018 I will serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA for an afterschool STEAM organization in my home state of Michigan. It’s a big, scary, exciting change!

I am also an author, though my professional writing career is still just beginning. I mostly work on novels (currently I’m querying a MG Christmas Carol retelling and drafting a YA fantasy about a magical milliner), but I occasionally write short stories and poetry. I am also an MFA student in children’s literature at Hollins University.

Send me a note!
